Matthew Latimer

Matthew Latimer is a Managing Director at ACT Capital Advisors and a seasoned corporate attorney with more than 25 years of experience advising companies on complex transactions. Over the course of his career, he has closed mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, recapitalizations, debt and equity financings, and strategic alliances representing over $2 billion in total transaction value.

Before joining ACT, Matthew served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at American Seafoods Group, the world’s largest harvester and at-sea processor of wild-caught whitefish. During his tenure, he led the legal team through numerous acquisitions, asset sales, and complex financial transactions, ultimately guiding the company through a successful sale to private equity investors.

Earlier in his career, Matthew practiced law at leading national firms including Davis Wright Tremaine, Cooley Godward, and Dorsey & Whitney. In these roles, he advised public and private companies, venture capital and private equity firms, and commercial banks on a broad range of M&A and strategic transactions—both domestic and international.

Matthew’s industry expertise spans manufacturing, information technology, maritime, food and beverage, agribusiness, life sciences, retail, and real estate. He is known for his ability to navigate high-stakes deals and build long-term value for both companies and investors.

He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese from Brigham Young University. In addition to his professional work, Matthew serves on the Board of the Boy Scouts of America (Mount Baker Council) and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. He is also an affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington School of Law, where he teaches courses related to business law.
