Joe Smith is a Managing Director at ACT Capital Advisors, bringing over two decades of experience in M&A, strategic advisory, and capital markets across the Healthcare and Consumer Products sectors. He has played a key role in transactions totaling more than $50 billion, including approximately $20 billion in buy- and sell-side deals where he held leadership roles throughout execution.

Before joining ACT, Joe was a Partner at a fast-growing, stealth-mode private equity firm focused on healthcare investments. He is also the Founder and Managing Director of BioVerity Partners, LLC, a firm that provides fractional strategic and transactional support to small and mid-sized healthcare, biopharma, and investment companies. Joe has held senior strategic and transactional roles at six different biopharma firms, each time contributing meaningfully to their growth, successful exits, or exit-readiness.

His background also includes extensive experience in transaction-focused management consulting with firms such as Navigant and Easton Associates, as well as capital markets work at Lazard and Bear Stearns. These roles have given him a comprehensive perspective on deal-making across both corporate and advisory settings.

Joe holds both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, along with a Certification in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School. While at UPenn, he was also a member of the university’s nationally ranked NCAA Division I wrestling team.
